Terms of Use
Habit Comp helps you keep habits, put a value on them and compete — with your
own best week, or with other people in a competition. These terms are what
you agree to by using it. They are written to be read, not skimmed past.

The short version
- It is not medical advice.
Nothing in Habit Comp — no habit, target, competition, coach or badge — is medical, health, fitness or nutrition advice.
- Check with a doctor first.
Before you change how you eat, drink, exercise, sleep or take medication, talk to a qualified professional — especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are taking medication.
- Taking part is your choice, at your own risk.
Stop any activity that causes pain, dizziness or distress, whatever a habit or a competition asks.
- The app does not move money.
It records what you pay yourself and what a coach says they collected or paid. It never takes, holds or sends anybody's money.
Not medical advice
Habit Comp is a tool for tracking and motivation. Targets such as “80 ounces of
water”, “8 hours of sleep” or “30 minutes of exercise” are goals somebody chose
— you, or a coach running a competition. They are not recommendations for you,
and nobody at Habit Comp has assessed whether they are right for you.
Readings from Apple Health and amounts you type in are shown as they arrive.
They may be incomplete or wrong, and they are not a diagnosis of anything.
Never ignore professional advice, or delay getting it, because of something
in this app. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Competitions
- Coaches are not medical professionals unless they tell you
otherwise, and their habits, targets and rules are theirs, not Habit Comp's.
A coach must not present a competition as medical or professional advice.
- You choose what to take part in. Before you join, the app
shows the habits, the rules, what you share with the coach and what happens
if you leave. Leave any competition that is not right for you.
- Points are not money. Where a competition has an entry fee
or prizes, they are paid between the people involved, outside the app. Habit
Comp records what the coach marks and calculates placements from the rules;
it is not a party to any payment and does not guarantee one.
- Entries are reported, not proved. Every entry is reported
by the person who made it: an Apple Health reading comes from their own
devices, and everything else is what they logged. Habit Comp does not check,
verify or guarantee any entry, reading, score, placement or prize.
- The coach checks, and the coach decides. The coach approves
or rejects the entries Apple Health does not verify, and settles questions and
disputes between participants under the competition's rules. Habit Comp does
not review evidence or decide disputes; the coach's decisions are between the
coach and the participants.
- Play fair. Log only what you actually did. Anybody who logs
false entries can be removed by the coach and lose their entry and any prize,
and we may remove anybody who cheats, harasses other people or misuses a
competition from Habit Comp.
- Other people's conduct is their own. Habit Comp is not
responsible for anything a coach, a teammate or another participant does or
fails to do — including logging false entries, approving or rejecting entries
unfairly, deciding a dispute, or not paying or collecting money they owe.
Take any such disagreement up with them.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under
your account.
- What you type — habit names, notes, your username — is yours. You let us
store it and show it where the app says it will (to friends you share with,
and to coaches of competitions you join), and nowhere else. See the
Privacy policy.
- Don't use Habit Comp to break the law, to harass anyone, or to get at
anybody else's data.
- You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time from
Settings → Delete my account.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.
The app itself
We work to keep Habit Comp running and your data safe, but the app is provided
as it is, and we cannot promise it will always be available or free of
mistakes. To the extent the law allows, Soto Programing is not liable for
injury, loss or damage arising from using the app, from following a habit or
a competition's targets, from anything a coach, teammate or other
participant does or fails to do, or from arrangements between people in a
competition. Nothing here takes away rights the law gives you that cannot be
taken away.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes too, and anything that
matters will be said in the app. Using Habit Comp after a change means you
accept the new terms.
